Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a structured, evidence-based therapy that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The core idea is that unhelpful or inaccurate thinking patterns often maintain emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors. CBT is typically goal-oriented and time-limited, with homework assignments to practice skills between sessions. It is widely used to treat anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, and many other mental health concerns.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is a mindfulness-based therapy that emphasizes changing one’s relationship with thoughts and emotions rather than trying to eliminate them. Instead of challenging thoughts for accuracy, ACT teaches acceptance of internal experiences while focusing on meaningful action. ACT is particularly helpful for chronic anxiety, depression, pain, and stress-related conditions, especially when attempts to control thoughts or feelings have become exhausting or counterproductive.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is a specialized form of CBT and is considered the gold-standard treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It targets the cycle of obsessions (intrusive thoughts) and compulsions (rituals or avoidance). Over time, ERP reduces fear, distress, and reliance on compulsions. ERP has been shown to be effective for most forms of anxiety, such as illness anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, and specific phobias.

Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)

SPACE is a parent-based treatment designed for children and adolescents with anxiety, OCD, or related conditions. Unlike traditional child therapy, SPACE works primarily with caregivers rather than directly with the child. This approach is especially useful when a child is unwilling or unable to participate in therapy, or when family patterns play a strong role in maintaining anxiety symptoms.
